Become a Volunteer

Join the team of Lebanon House Volunteers! No matter what your schedule or experience level, there is a way you can help.

Ushers

As the "front line" representatives of LOH, ushers are extremely important. Not only are they responsible for taking tickets, directing patrons to their seats, handing out programs and selling refreshments, but they also ensure that the audience has a comfortable and enjoyable experience at the Opera House.

Ushering opportunities are available for all LOH shows and most rental productions. The Lebanon Opera House's Youth Education Series (YES!) provides a great opportunity for ushers who are not available for the evening shows.

House Managers

The House Manager provides front-of-house management and coordinates with the Box Office, ushers and technical director as needed. But don't be intimidated by the description, house managing is a great way to work with every level of LOH: volunteers, staff, artists and audience.

Essential skills include the ability to resolve problems rapidly and resourcefully, attention to detail, the ability work with minimum supervision and excellent interpersonal communication skills. Training and a procedure manual are provided to anyone interested in becoming a house manager.

Artist Liaison

Often artists request a person be available to them on the day of the performance to run errands, drive people around and perform other small tasks that make their lives easier. If you have always wanted to be behind the scenes at a concert, this is the job for you. A driver's license and daytime availability is a must.

Poster Distribution

Posters are one of the most important methods of advertising and we are always in need of people to hang them around the Upper Valley and beyond. We provide the posters, thumbtacks and a list of bulletin boards; you provide the automobile and thumb.

Board or Commitee Member

Bring fresh ideas and opinions to the Board of Trustees - a group of thirteen volunteers who meet monthly to discuss and oversee various aspects of the operation - or channel your specific interests into a Lebanon Opera House committee. LOH committees (Programming, Nominations, Development, Facilities, Finance on occasional ad hoc committees) consist of both board and non-board members and meet anywhere from once a month to twice a year, depending on their activities.

Special Events

The perfect opportunity for a volunteer who is too busy to make a regular commitment! Throughout the year, Lebanon Opera House holds special fund and friend-raisers in locations all over the Upper Valley. Whether it's a dance party at the American Legion in White River Junction, a booth at the Upper Valley Home Life Show in Hanover or twilight cocktails and big band music at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site in Cornish, volunteers are always needed to organize and staff these exciting events.
